Bryan

Bryan Johnson story: “ A spinal injury many years ago left me tetraplegic but walking with the aid of a stick, a few years ago my walking deteriorated and now I require the use of a wheelchair, at that time I was still trying to find a purpose in life, something that would get me out of bed and out of the house. Becoming reliant on my wheelchair led to me having my first spinal injury rehabilitation at Stanmore Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. The rehab not only helps with gaining independence but uses sport as a confidence booster. From my stay at Stanmore I was lucky enough to be picked for their sports team to compete in the The Inter Spinal Unit Games. Boosted by this I applied to Cambridge Community Arts for a Digital Photography course. A love was born. After successfully completing the course I volunteered as creative teaching assistant, 4 years later (2022) I've become course tutor.”

Richard

My name is Richard Green born in 1960.I have lived in Cambridge for a good proportion of my life but have also worked and lived in West Yorkshire and North London. My work has been varied from driving frozen food around East Anglia to performing as a fire eater and blower at a theme park in Scarborough, West Yorkshire. From setting up community circus in Cambridge to designing the grounds of a Primary School in North West London, I have recently expanded my love of photography (I still have photo-graphs that I took when I was eight) by taking a Level two photography course and becoming a member of the Cambridge Community Arts pho-tographic group which, I am hoping will lead to more artistic adventures in the future.

Carol

In a loving memory of Carol Reed who lived in Cambridge but was originally from Yorkshire. She was always interested in photography. Carol loved taking photos of colorful flowers and and she used to edit her photos to make the colours really bright and vibrant. R.I.P beloved Carol

Sammie

Sammie Payne started her photography journey the same way as many others her age, on her smart phone. She would always be pulling her phone out to get snaps of anything she though was interesting or aesthetically pleasing and before long reached the limitations of what phone cameras where capable of. At this point she decided to take the leap into DSLR photography an purchased a Canon 750D. Over the next 3 years Sammie started to develop a passion for nature and wildlife photography and started to tailor her kit as such and spent most of her free time exploring the various nature and wildlife reserves around South Cambridgeshire. It was at this time Sammie was offered the exciting opportunity to study photography at the Cambridge Centre for Community Arts. This greatly aided Sammie's development as a photographer forcing her to step out of her comfort zone at the same time as giving her a greater understanding of the aspects of the art and giving her the opportunity to learn about and study other photographers. Upon finishing the course Sammie continued to focus on wildlife photography and is currently using a Canon 90D as her primary camera.
